We are closer to the last dinosaurs than they are to the first dinosaurs. It's crazy! =D

Yup! Chronologically speaking, it'd be closer to accurate for a movie to show a T. rex in downtown Manhattan than it is to show a T. rex fighting a Stegosaurus.

I had my doubts about this statement, but you're absolutely correct. Stegosaurus died out around 145 million years ago and the Tyrannosaurus first came about around 68 million years ago. So, 77 million years between those two, versus a 'mere' 65 million between the Tyrannosaurus and us. On top of this, the Nyasasaurus, believed to be the oldest known dinosaur, may be around 100 million years older even than the Stegosaurus. It's a really mind-blowing span of time.

100% These questions really aren't that hard if you have the slightest clue about dinosaurs.

Or if you have a 4-year-old...

Odd, I've met more little girls who are really into dinosaurs than little boys.

Same, of the kids I teach it’s mainly the girls who are obsessed. And growing up it was always my female friends who were into dinosaurs (I wasn’t - I’ve only gotten into them as an adult haha)

Missed one because "palaeontology" wasn't accepted. Started trying to think of an alternative word, rather than an alternative spelling. Can we get it accepted?

Gojira for Godzilla?

Isn't Gojira just Godzilla said with a thick Japanese accent?

Gojira is the original Japanese spelling of Godzilla - ゴジラ

Maybe Godzilla is just Gojira said with a thick American accent ;)

Gojira, the Japanese name, is a combination of gorira (gorilla) and kujira (whale). Because gorilla + whale = dinosaur, obviously.

Gorilla whale... thunder lizard... makes sense. Where do jet-propelled turtles factor in?

So, by that logic, wollemi pines are dinosaurs.

Or a Coelacanth, for that matter. Which is not something I've ever heard referred to as a dinosaur.

Brontosaurus and Apatosaurus aren't similar, since Brontosaurus never existed.

Actually, they published some research in 2015 that led at least a significant amount (if not most) of the scientific community to believe that they are indeed two separate species

Wow apparently I know a lot about dinosaurs (or quiz was rather easy. Let's say both since I wouldnt say I know a lot about them, but then again average score is only 13). No kids around (or adults with the interest.)

I'm always looking for some good dinosaur nerd trivia, but alas, Evolutionary Theory seems to take up half the quiz, and then there are some elementary questions about the most well known dinosaurs.

I guess I need to create my own... :)

It’s so weird. 83% of people taking my quiz series know that Procompsognathus lived in the Triassic, and yet Apatosaurus of all prehistoric animals is causing the JetPunk community to go insane.
