Nice quiz! That last African country took me a while.

St. Lucia wasn't my first answer.

I would have never guessed it either, but I remember seeing it on a "Most Prizes per capita " quiz.

Most of these were easy and if you know about St. Lucia you have all the time to guess all nations in Africa.

Or alternatively guess everything in N. America.

Was surprised Liberia had two until I realised it was the one prize shared between two Liberians. I guess the source gives you countries with most laureates rather than most prizes.

St. Lucia??? How???

It's so easy to look things up if you're really interested. I did. There is no doubt about the attribution to St. Lucia. That's all I'm gonna say.

I looked it up - Sir W. Arthur Lewis won for economics in 1979 - his influence was in economic development and expansion of university education in the Caribbean. Sir Derek Walcott won for literature in 1992. He wrote an epic poem about his travels.

Funny how they both sound like very English names

Put "Sir" in front of practically anything - that'll do it. For example, "Sir Marie Curie"

Erm, perhaps not actually

Funny one, can't help being curious though, about why people guess Saint Lucia more than Liberia...

Level 72

Africa has more than twice as many countries than North America. So when you start guessing random countries for each continent, you'll get around to St. Lucia more quickly. That would be my guess. (Or, there's an unusually high number of people from St. Lucia on Jetpunk.)

This is exactly how I got it. I missed a couple of African ones though as I ran out of time trying every African nation one by one.

Derek Walcott is significantly more famous than Liberian activists.

Or we've played the quiz that names St. Lucia as the country with the most Nobel Prizes per capita and the information stuck. That's how I knew it.

Same. Actually the very first country I guessed because of that.

If you're going to use Wikipedia for your source on Nobel prize winners, can you also use Wikipedia for Russia being a trans-continental country, and have it appear in both Asia's and Europe's columns?

Brazilian Peter Medawar won the 1960 Nobel Prize in Physiology (or Medicine). It was shared with an australian and Peter had dual citizenship as he also was a british citizen. He was born in Brazil, so I think it still should be counted.
