How did you do that?

When a correct answer is inputted, the image shows up. It's under Manual -> Hide Cell, then you click the answers you want it to be revealed after.

Neat trick, Stewart! Is it possible to use it with SVG maps?

Yes you can use the hidden cells feature with SVGs. You cannot with Random quizzes though as they don't support Manual Mode.

Great! I've made a similar version, where you have to label each one on the board, specifically.

Awesome! Didn't see yours when I was looking for one! I kinda think yours is kind of the 'test' after you done the revision here! i.e. you learn the pieces and positions here and then take your quiz to 'test' that knowledge! Also you must know then how much of a pain-in-the-butt this was to make. (Only an hours worth!) Thank you anyways!

Yes, you definitely should. Doesn't matter what you or some organisation wants to call them. That's not how language works.

In Finnish these would be King, Queen, Tower, Horse, Envoy/Messager and soldier so it was just a tad more difficult for me...
+1
Level 66
Jan 6, 2019
king, queen/lady, tower, horse, loper (walker?), pion=pawn here

Pretty tough when it is not your language, I remembered bishop ( though not how to spell it) and after a while it dawned on me that horse becomes knight. But for the tower i tried, tower, castle, really couldnt think of anything else (yea wall... but didnt even try that cause sure that wouldnt be right)

+1

Oct 23, 2018
a Rook is the official name for what you call a "castle". That is why we don't accept castle, since only official names are allowed :)

A rook is a sort of raven ;) That is the only thing I can think of hearing that word.

I think you'll find the official names are cannon fodder, castle, horse, priest, empress and grandad.

I do think you should allow the alternative names and if you dont, show in the description that there is only one official name (according to whatever offical source) you accept.

I am fine without personally. But to cover all bases, above seem the most correct way to do it/please both sides
