I thought the India had the highest population. According to this source it is but it includes water buffalo so maybe both should be acceptable. Looking at a couple of websites both are listed with varied numbers.

My favorite is the French word for the sound of a duck, "coin." Obviously it's not pronounced anything like the English word of the same spelling, but it's still funny to imagine ducks walking around asking everyone for money.

Yak is one of the easier ones, I dont see why is decided to give the y.

The only one I missed was cud, what does he regurgitate, well, his food ;) that didnt work neither did grass. Even if a c was provided I wouldnt have gotten this one :) (I just looked up to see if the word in my own language rings more bells, but translate gives me a word which means miracle, I doubt that is it haha)

hm maybe it is related to the dutch kauwt/kauwde and german kaut(e) meaning chewed. It seems we dont really have a word for it, only thing that could be used was foodball... but more a description than a term.

How have 62% got cud?? One of the few I didn't get along with Zebu and Aurochs.

Is this an american word? Really as others have said, it regurgitates its food, which is usually grass.

This is a very obscure word in the UK.

I disagree, chewing the cud is a standard phrase in England for that part of ruminant digestion
