Cherry Tree

That is a Cherry Blossom tree, not a cherry tree.

There is no such thing as a cherry blossom tree. The blossoms are the flowers of the cherry tree. In this case, the Japanese Cherry tree.

Right. It is a cherry tree. It's just that the only time anybody ever hears about them is when they are blossoming... then people come in to the see the "cherry blossoms"

After all you tourists leave, they turn into cherries :-)

Probably not, since those are ornamental cherries. :)

There are many different varieties of cherry trees in DC. They do bear fruit, but, not the sort humans would like to eat. Those are different trees.

LOL......I'm pretty sure all cherry trees have blossoms. This is actually a "flowering cherry tree".

The Pentagon is in VA, not DC.

That part of Virginia used to be part of Washington D.C. The District of Columbia was originally a 10 by 10 mile square, consisting of land donated by Maryland and Virginia. Virginia voted to take back the land they donated in 1846. Without retrocession, the Pentagon would be in Washington D.C.

Most of Old Town Alexandria was also in that square.

Sure, and West Virginia used to be part of Virginia, but we wouldn't have Charleston on a quiz of "Cities in Virginia."

It says "things associated with the city of Washington D.C."

City limits usually don't coincide with official borders, especially in US

City limits ARE official borders.

The Pentagon is definitely "associated" with D.C. as the directions state. As someone who lives nearby in Maryland, trust me.

The Tomb doesn't have an official name, but its guards and those associated with it almost exclusively refer to it as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (not pluralised).

I was stationed at Ft. Myer, which is next to Arlington Cemetery and where the 3rd Infantry (Old Guard) lives. They are the guys who guard the tomb, as well as do other duties like presidential funeral processions. However, I was in F Troop next door, not the Old Guard.

Super easy for a Washington native.

I think even for non-natives. This could be way expanded and be a lityle more challenging!

I actually think the level is quite fitting. Some easy ones, some I never heard of (the entire third row), and some I didn't know had anything to do with Washington - like cherry trees. As a European I actually learned something new

Over 3000 cherry trees were gifted from Japan to the United States in 1912. Washington and Tokyo have a similar climate and they've flourished ever since on the spot chosen for them along the Potomac.

It would be better if it forced you to enter the answer for a selected picture to keep from guessing. It feel it is too easy as well.

march on washington or civil rights should be accepted for mlk's speech

it asked for the name of the speech, so march on Washington or civil rights wouldn't fit this.

Could you accept "congress" for the capitol building, I still got it, but I think that would be a good type-in.

You should acept Sakura as well. In the US might be mostly called Cherry but Sakura is a correct name also widely used. When I tried Sakura and didnt work I figured that the gift was something else.

You should be more specific with the wording on the speech question. Like, "title/name of speech". I feel like "MLK" should be accepted with the current wording. I figured out what you meant, but it just feels a little vague imo.
