I was just a few 100m from where the Rhine ends and flows into the sea. I took this quiz on my way back home on the train. :) (didn't choose the quiz btw, it was a random one)

Actually three of nine rivers are very close to my home.

Nice quiz! Thank you! Three of the rivers flow through my home country (almost the same as the ones which are near your home, I guess - only Rhine instead of Tisza).

What's the 5th country for Tisza? Wikipedia only listed 4, but it looks like it might go to Slovakia for a bit? Was too lazy to find a proper map as googlemaps really didn't show much of the river.

It is Slovakia.

The title should be "Rivers that flow through the most countries." It is missing the 'the'.

Great quiz! It's hard to tell from maps, but it looks like the Zambezi might touch DRC, which would bring the total to seven countries (including Namibia, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Mozambique).

Actually, it seems like it touches the border of the Congo, but it doesn't actually pass through it.

It goes extremely close to the border, at just a few hundred metres, but misses.

Good quiz indeed, but hard. I scored 5 points with only 78% correct. Didn't know those two Danube tributaries.

10 countries for the Congo River? How do you figure?

It looks like the whole drainage basin is included.

Could you specify whether tributaries count or not. I think the White or Blue Nile should be on this list.

Of course the one I forgot is the one that actually goes through my country. Lmao

Rio de la Plata is 5 countries, is it not?
+3
Level 72

Technically two, but some of the other answers include the entire drainage basin (for example, the Congo River only passes through 3 countries, not ten, but the drainage basin includes ten countries), so I dare say that the rules determining the correct answer for the quiz are arbitrary.

Perhaps it should be noted that two of the answers are tributaries of a third of the correct answers

Interesting how none of these are in the Americas
+1
Level 76
Sep 23, 2017
Not really, there are just less countries for the rivers to flow through. Central America is too narrow, the US and Canada take up almost all of the north, and Brazil takes up a massive amount of the south.

Not sure how you count the basin/connected systems. Otherwise Volta might be added (CdIv, Gh, Togo, Benin, BF and Mali)

Hi - I think the numbers in this quiz are wrong. The Danube flows through the most countries, not the Nile; the Nile is listed with 11 but that would include tributaries from Ethiopia etc. If you did that for the Danube, it would be 19 countries.

According to Encyclopedia Brittania, the Drava river originates in Italy and only flows through Austria, Slovenia and Croatia. https://www.britannica.com/place/Drava-River.

The Tisza only flows through Ukraine, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, see https://www.britannica.com/place/Tisza-River.
