I'm embarrassed to admit I only got a 3 on this quiz, yet proud that the station I lived quite close to for a few years is the #1 guessed station (so far), Hammersmith.
I got three but I missed many more because I didn't add street, circus, park, etc. to the answers. I assumed typing something like Piccadilly or Leicester would be good enough. My bad.
I'm really enjoying this quiz, very challenging. I'm not a London native and only visit a couple of times each year, so it's a genuine mental workout. Currently tantalisingly close to the 200 mark, although I can normally get all but one or two in Zone 1.
My only 'gripe', if that, is that Regent's Park seems can be completed with just 'Re' which seems a bit of a giveaway.
Also, is it possible to add a feature which will highlight missing answers on the map (e.g. a yellow tint to where the text would go)? A bit like the Countries of the World quiz where clicking the link below it will add a dot for missing answers. It might help missing answers due to the clutter as the map fills up. Just an idea.
What's happened with the answers. They appear in the map but not in the grid. You can see them flash up but then they disappear. It's almost like they are now appearing in the same colour font as the background.
I have. I'm currently working to lower my time as much as possible. So far my best is 12:03! In practice I have got 100% on the quiz 17 times, so yeah.
This is great - can tell which bits of London I visit. ‘Heathrow’ gives me 3 answers but when I just put Lambeth - aaargh. Tried central, hill, palace, high st. Should remember the points of the compass. :) Nice work!!
Very interesting. I got only 24. I forgot MANY stops I know and I miswrote several stops (like "Tottenham", "Notting Hill", "West India", "Elephant &", "Holland", "St Paul").
88 about average? I guess a lot of peoples answers will be a bit like mine, a lollipop, consisting of all the stations between home and the city centre and then a cluster in the middle.
Great quiz and a challenging memorial recall! Would you be able to make one with just the DLR? There is currently an all-stations one but would prefer to fill in a map. Perhaps you could make it yellow-box so that you have to be able to match up the place name with the correct location?
True, although it's not as satisfying to 'complete' it then have 45/308 when compared to 45/45! If I was competent with the .svg coding I'd make them myself: DLR, Overground, other cities etc... National Rail all-the-stations would surely be the holy grail of all quizzes on Jetpunk. 2,566 answers - given this is half an hour you'd need about 4 hours to complete!
Hi! I'm currently making a similar quiz for the Chicago CTA (nearly finished), but I was wondering how you were able to get the names for each station to appear when the answers are typed in? Is there some nifty tool in Inkscape that I can use? Or do I need to code it by hand? Thanks!
Hi there. On the Edit Answers section of the quiz setup, you can specify a hint, which should match up with the id of the element in your svg file. And then you will need to set these styles in the svg
Not sure if this is just my computer, but when I put my mouse to look at the graphs, (In quiz and answer stats) nothing shows up. the text box is there, it's just blank.
1.) You click "Quiz and Answer stats". 2.) Scroll all the way down and put your mouse over one of the two bar graphs. There is a text box, but it is blank.
@mikeyq6 I found the issue, the CSS inside your SVG is causing text inside the charts to be set to "display: none". Please make sure all CSS starts with ".svg-holder " to ensure it doesn't mess up other parts of the page!
I got nine first try, been on the tube tonnes of times, I even a have a tube card game which may explain why my first to guesses were Elephant Castle and Canada Water...
Yep me too. Panicked for a minute because I didn't want to lose the data from the 24 tries it took me to go from 42 to all 308 but hasn't been updated yet.
Fantastic effort. Well done. I got 146...would have been much higher...lived in London all my life and used to be able to reel them off....but moved away 7 years ago...amazing what gaps I have now...forgotten whole swathes of Bakerloo, Central and Piccadilly...wow, just gone! Thanks for all the effort.
I lived there for a year working late shifts in Ealing and had many dreary last train commutes home to Whitechapel on the Central line, watching the map the same way I'd watch the clock at the office... yet five years later I can barely remember any of those stops.
Actually the reason why I didn’t add the Overground originally was due to a limitation of answers in the quiz, there is a hard maximum and there wouldn’t have been enough room for the overground. It’s a similar story for the Elizabeth line, but I will revisit it as perhaps it has changed
I really love this quiz which I have taken multiple times and seem to end up at about the 110 - 120 mark though not always the same ones.
Is there any intention to incorporate the Elizabeth Line now that it has opened? This would bring in another 18 to 26 stations depending on if stations on the underground map but outside the fare zones are included. Shenfield is probably the only contentious "outside station". Otherwise West Drayton to Abbey Wood and Brentwood would work well.
Interesting facts about Canary Wharf Stations:
There is no direct access between the three Canary Wharf stations, you need to use your ticket when changing between any of them.
Canary Wharf Jubilee Line Station is closer to DLR Heron Quays than DLR Canary Wharf
Canary Wharf Elizabeth Line station is closer to DLR West India Quay than DLR Canary Wharf
Could you please edit the situation at Edgware road with the bakerloo line. There is still a little bump for where a station name would go and it's always blank making me think I was missing a station
My only 'gripe', if that, is that Regent's Park seems can be completed with just 'Re' which seems a bit of a giveaway.
There are already the marks on the lines that indicate where a station should be. I'll look into it though.
might try without timer see how many i can do
Great quiz!
Im American, I have not ever been out of the country, and I still got a decent score.
261/308
- Hammersmith and Edgware Road are actually each two separate stations.
- Queensway and Bayswater are right next to each other (210m).
- Lancaster Gate and Paddington are relatively close together (600m).
- Embankment and Westminster are west of the river Thames.
- Stockwell is directly south of Vauxhall.
- Monument is directly east of Temple.
- Warwick Avenue is directly north of Paddington.
- White City is northwest of Shepherd's Bush.
