A lot of the answers are in the map legend.

They shouldn't appear in the legend until you've entered them!

The answers flashed in the beginning for me. Quickly, but enough for a fast reader to get a couple of cities.

Possibly the best map I've ever seen. Glad it got featured right away, it deserves it. You've earned my greatest respect. Edit: One little nitpick is for svg-incorrect to be a darker shade of red, because the text is hard to see when wrong on the dark background.

Good quiz. In the legend all the dates are in the past, but I thought Belmond were still running the trains under the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express brand (admittedly currently interrupted by Covid travel restrictions).

Thanks for the comment, you're right. I'm not sure why the source (made in 2011) has the service ending in 2005, but as it is active now, barring covid, I've changed it to say to present. I've also extended the line to London, as the route runs from there.

As a general note I'm going to avoid making further changes unless really necessary as the map is not meant to be exhaustive but rather a general overview of the history of the Orient Express with selected services and stops.

I had a neighbor growing up in the 1980s who traveled on the original Orient Express. She was born around the turn of the 20th century. What an adventure that must have been!

Nice looking map, but this quiz using the same source already existed https://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/226735/cities-on-the-orient-express-map-quiz

I removed the purple and yellow lines as I was not sure wether they were correct and thought they lacked the historic character a bit and they did not reach Athens or Istanbul nor did they add any cities on the route. I coincidentally updated my quiz on the same day this one was released as I updated a few of my quizzes in light of recent spotlight update. Only thing I changed to the map that update was removing ceuta as it's floating in the sea and Milan seems to me a bit mispositioned (which still seems to be the case in this map). Although your quiz is less in jetpunk style, it does look nice and keeping the box with extra info about the lines maybe is a better idea than removing it.

Apologies TvB, I hadn't seen your quiz. Started this a while back but should have checked again when I got round to finishing it. Didn't mean to step on your toes. Good points about Milan and Ceuta, I missed those! I just nudged Calais closer to the sea and some others for aesthetic reasons.

The Venice-Simplon line is still running, as OfficerDibble pointed out, and I've extended it to London (it has other routes too but that's the main one). The OBB run line was the last use of what could be considered the original Orient Express according to an article I found so though it doesn't add more cities it feels right to include it for this particular quiz, which is supposed to be an overview of the history as well as a bit of a tribute to it. Have been meaning to add some information on a sticky but need to read a bit more first. Also mean to swap the purple and yellow lines in the legend to reflect the change in dates. Anyway, apologies again. I hope you feel the differences are enough.

What about Vinkovci? Too small? It's one of the longest continuously-inhabited places in Europe, important for its rail links including along the Orient Express route. Plus Agatha Christie decided to have a little murder near there once...

Lovely quiz though, thanks!
