There's an oddly interesting dispute over whether that is in fact the world's largest ball of twine. See https://99percentinvisible.org/episode/goodness-gracious-great-balls-of-twine/

Actually, that's pretty good for a French person. As an American, I don't know the capital or largest city of Auvergne.

But American states are more significant than French regions, especially given that the U.S. is a federal country.

American states may enjoy greater autonomy but Auvergne has a significance that goes back to antiquity. It's where Vercingetorix, the leader of the Gallic tribes come from, and where Caesar won the most important battle to conquer Gaul. Noble families from the region were involved in many important dynasties, such as Bourbon and Medici. There are countless castles, cathedrals and other buildings that are historically and culturally significant. Vichy is in Auvergne. If you want to know more you can play this quiz which I created in response to the comments here.

You're not missing much. If what I've heard is true, Kansas is the most boring state out there.

It's the only state from which the majority of the natives I've met have mostly negative things to say about it. People are usually really proud of their home state no matter what it is. Not Kansans in my experience.

I'm a 3d generation native Kansan and I am very proud of my home state. It may be "boring" but some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, and good to one another.

If you find any state, or any country for that matter, boring as a whole you're just a boring person imo. There's history, beauty, people to know, and things to do wherever you go.

Sadly, even though that was true, it was later discovered that the metrics they used are so incredibly skewed that even Bolivia would end up being flatter than a pancake if they measured it

Something that should probably be said is that the common misconception that Kansas is the flattest state in the US is wrong, it's actually Florida.

No the river was named after the Kansa native American tribe, thats why it works. I typed out "native American tribe."
