Drove through a herd of bison in Custer National Park, SD back in '85. Incredible experience. (BTW, Roger Miller was right...you really can't rollerskate in a buffalo herd) Was in ND in the mid-90s and seeing the missile silos was a bit surreal.
For what it's worth, South Dakota has no active ICBM silos, though they once had up to 150, and you can visit the last one at the Minuteman Missile National Historic Site, just off of I-90. I didn't realize that ND still had a bunch of active ones.
Great quiz. I think for at least one of them, you could have "both" as an option (although it's never the actually correct answer) (e.g. borders Nebraska).
Born and raised in the Hills, I just missed the missile silo one because I knew we had some in the past, didn't know North Dakota has active ones still.
I remember an old David Letterman joke when he said that North Dakota was thinking of changing its name, freeing South Dakota to finally choose the name it’s always wanted: North Dakota.
South Dakota is such a wonderful state, I don't know why I feel so compelled to say this but when I went there it was such a nice area that I really considered living there. Really a wonderful place to go on vacation if you are considering it.
I might suggest adding the word "active" or something similar to the missile silo clue — while there are no longer active missiles in South Dakota, my understanding is that many of the silos themselves are still there (e.g. at Minuteman Missile NHS). This was a fun quiz!
