Once again, on your precious advices, I've tried to add interesting facts about Iceland in the quiz. I would be honoured if you could tell me if this one is "better" than the Nauru one, for example.

Thanks in advance, and enjoy!

Is #12 a nod to the Mighty Ducks movie? I never understood why in that movie they only picked countries that *don't* play ice hockey for the international tournament. The Ducks play Trinidad & Tobago, but Sweden is nowhere to be found.

Apparently snakes don't like I*eland countries. I thought this question was a trap.

And I had in mind that San Marino has the oldest parliament. I probably mix up with another institution.

Good quiz about a country I was supposed to visit in 2020. I like ultra-remote places that are full of life, making you feel like in a safe haven. I enjoyed Tromsø, Norway partly for that reason. You fly over uninhabited plains and fjords for a while, then reach a latitude where trees and grass don't grow on hilltops, and suddenly, an island hosting a city of 70,000 appears from nowhere.

san marino is commonly called the oldest republic, that might be what you were thinking of
+2
Level 67
Jun 14, 2021
Yes I thought the republic of San Marino was founded in the 4th century so was having a parliament since then, but it was actually the foundation of the country. The republic was apparently established in the 13th century "only".

Don't bring this subject up with a Manx nationalist! Iceland's parliament is slightly older than the Isle of Man's, but it was suspended during WW2, making the Tynwald the longest continuously-operating parliament in the world. Or it could all be a myth, but don't say that in a pub in Douglas.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Inuit is the plural of Inuk. So maybe a bit redundant there...
+1
Level 68
May 4, 2023
Yes, “inuk” is a Greenlandic word meaning “man, person,” and the plural is “inuit.” The one who made this quiz should remove “inuk.”

Doesn't really make a difference to the answer, but between literary and archeaological evidence there is enough proof that the Norse were not in fact the first people to settle Iceland, and that the Papar (a group of Irish monks) preceded them.
