Just to be fair to the Irish, that cow was most definitely a Bovinian-American.

LOL. I had the same thought, wondering which Irish breed of cow the O'Leary's had purchased. There were other theories about the origin of the fire, my favorite being that their next door neighbor, Mr. Sullivan, dropped his lantern while sneaking into the barn during the night to get some free milk for his bedtime whiskey drink.

This was an Irish cow...he was sneaking into the barn during the night to get some free whiskey for his bedtime milk drink.

Would like 'Abiline' to be accepted in addition to Dodge City, or if not, then rephrase the question to include the fact that Dodge sprang to life after in the 1870s, Abiline, which was the original cow town, stopped accepting cattle runs.

Abilene was my first answer. It was still the major end of the Chisholm Trail until the early 1870s when town residents informed the drovers they were no longer welcome in their town. A branch of the trail going to Dodge City then became the main route, causing Dodge City to boom. It seems to me that either town would fit the clue.

I'm surprised that anyone would answer Abilene and not know about Dodge City, but Abilene will work now.

I only knew Abilene, because that's where the cattle drive goes in Old Yeller.

It's impressionism, not expressionism, although I keep writing the latter every time I take this quiz. Seems I never learn.

Joseph Swan should be accepted as an answer as the inventor of the light bulb. He has every right to equal credit with Edison.

If you wanna get picky about Phileas Fogg, he actually made it around the world and back to London in 79 days. Though if you want to get even pickier, he didn't get back to the official end point, his social club, until the 80th day because he thought he had arrived five minutes late, not realizing that he had gained a whole day due to crossing the International Date Line going east. Since he thought he'd lost the wager, he didn't bother to go to the club until he discovered his mistake the next day.
