She was his wife for about an hour, and was his mistress for years before that.

It doesn't matter when they got married, only that they were man and wife when they died. Custom dictates that she now be referred to as his wife.

Eva Braun became Eva Hitler in the final hours. She became Hitler's wife, so I wouldn't consider her his girlfriend.

Great quiz.

Can you accept Paton for Patton? I know it's not how he spelt it, but the pronunciation is close enough and there isn't always time to check spelling. It is a WW2 knowledge quiz rather than a spelling test.

@Algernon then you should know it's spelt 'Patton', and not 'Paton'

There is no question that the Japanese in WWII were sadistic, murderous SOBs. However, they did not systematically exterminate

over 8 MILLION people in their death/concentration camps. That is the reason I believe more emphasis is placed on the European war.

Even if this were true... it would still be a pretty remarkably poor rationale. As if the Holocaust was somehow the only thing that mattered about World War 2? How would you ever even reach that conclusion? But... that aside... to cut and paste a bit: "R. J. Rummel, a professor of political science at the University of Hawaii, estimates that between 1937 and 1945, the Japanese military murdered from nearly 3 to over 10 million people"

Also, if you want to give yourself nightmares while at the same time destroying any notion that the Japanese were somehow less evil than the Nazis, read the Wikipedia article on Unit 731

I never said that the Japanese were less sadistic than the Nazis. My point was that the SYSTEMATIC execution of millions may have left more of an impression. By the way, 6 Million Jews were exterminated by the Nazis. However, millions more who were killed included Gypsies, The Insane, Certain religious groups (among them Jehovah's Witnesses), and anyone the Nazis deemed unsuitable.

The only one I didn't get. Lots of people didn't get that answer because it's probably something that was not seen much outside the US during the war, and although the image has become fairly well known outside the US since, the name has not.
