The Lough question seems out of place as Ireland is a separate country to the UK. I understand that it's the same word used in Northern Ireland, so maybe you should specify this.

Not only that, but "Lough" is merely an anglicized spelling of the correct Gaelic (Irish and Scots) spelling "Loch".

The question is correct and not out of place. For example, here is the largest lake in Northern Ireland.

It's not out of place but it is misleading for native speakers as the Irish and Scots Gaelic words for 'lake' are the same.

I don't really care, but while we are being pedantic the quiz is entiteld British geography but then syas it is about the UK. These things aren't quite the same as Northern Ireland - for example is in the UK but not Britain (although it is in the British Isles).

Having said that - good quiz Thanks

"British" is the official short form for things relating to "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland." It's been used correctly here.

As opposed to Gibraltar ... but it does say its territories too

"What national park can be found in northern Wales?" You accept Snowdon, which is not the name of the national park but the name of the tallest mountain in the national park (i.e. they are not the same). Also, you could accept the Welsh name for the park (Eryri).

Loughs (and lochs) aren't just lakes, they can also be sea inlets/fjords. See Belfast Lough for example.

Snowdonia has now officially been replaced with the Welsh name and is now known as Eryri. It would be great if that could be accepted too. Snowdon is now officially called yr wyddfa too 😊

Why doesn't "loch" work as an answer for lakes in Ireland? It's right there in the dictionary, I studied some Irish as a youth. "Lough" is an anglicism, not an Irish word.

A good quiz: I learnt a few things about my country of birth. However, I must join the list of those who point out that Ireland is not in any way British. It really would be better to make that Northern Ireland. You wouldn't need to change any of the other words, as I am sure that the answer would remain the same.

As for whether the word that answers the question has been Anglicised or not, I can't say.

'Snowdon' as a type-in for 'Snowdonia' is both factually incorrect and pointless! Snowdon is one mountain, Snowdonia is the name of the national park (that is what the question is asking for after all). No one calls the national park Snowdon (even if Snowdonia gets its name from Snowdon). Also, you could use Eryri as a type-in for Snowdonia (i.e. the Welsh name for the park).

The city due south of London is called 'Brighton & Hove' - that is its official name and should be what comes up as the answer.
