All of those countries you mentioned (with the exception Nicaragua) are Carribbean Countries, not Central American countries. There are only 7 countries in Central America.
I would have thought those are included, too, but I guess it's an Italian thing - the corresponding wikipedia page in Italian considers Grenada etc, too ( https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/America_Centrale )
Latin America is a weird concept. If it's all the places that speak a Latin language, you'd have to include Québec and Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon in it, even though those have otherwhise almost nothing in common with South American countries.
Latin America was a concept first proposed by Napoleon. Haiti is often included in Latin America, since it's independent. I think an independent Quebec would definitely be considered a part of Latin America, but since it's just a province it's in a weird limbo.
Yeah. I had always learned that "North America" was the big three. Canada, USA, Mexico. And that "Central America" was all of the smaller countries. Since it's not really an official region, I guess it's all in who teaches it.
Mexico is part of North America, but it can also be considered part of Central America as the region is geographically defined as the continental land that stretches between the isthmus of Tehuantepec (In Mexico) and the isthmus of Panama.
"Latin America" is a super-regional designation for countries in the Americas that speak a language descended from Latin, namely Spanish or Portuguese. (There's some debate if French should be included, but typically it isn't. A source that covers this in part is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBt5rMD2aDc.) Thus, the nations of Belize, Guyana, and Suriname are excluded from Latin America.
Needs a time limit of 10 or 15 seconds. Moderate-speed typists will be able to finish the whole quiz as it stands. It needs to be enough of a challenge to weed most people out
I dont think so, I was surprised at how low the scores are ! would have expected everything to be 95%+ atleast ! (There can always be that one that slips your mind) So I guess people struggle with it as is. Eventhough I had more than a minute to spare aswell
I had a nightmare... that we are going to be rekindling the debate over Cyprus being in Asia or Europe or whether Egypt is in Africa or the Middle East on this side of the pond with regards to whether Mexico
is part of Central or North America. If the cultural/language/ethnic commonality argument used to place Egypt in the Middle East is repeated here, then Mexico is part of Central America.
no joke, I had 1:09 left and I am in the bathtub balancing my laptop with one hand and typing with the other (I know I shouldnt..) So I really wasnt typing fast. And it has gotten dark here, so I dont even see what I am typing only a bit from the screenlight. ( forgot to turn on the light, it was still light when I got in, and cant reach it holding the laptop..)
Like it! Agree though, it’s too easy for this amount of time... to see a fill the map version of this with the current time would be cool as well, I think that’d be more challenging?
He everyone I have an announcement to make. I'm moving to Costa Rica. Thought about it for long time, and I'm finally gonna do it. So... I'm just gonna jump the fence and jog home.
P.S Niceragua is spelt wrong
