There's a wikipedia page about Phoenicia. I had no clue about the English spelling either and admit I looked it up in Finnish on wikipedia and then checked the English page.

I read somewhere that the first Brazilian Emperor came to power largely due to support from Napoleon...

Unfortunately, you read wrong. The fact that he was crowned in 1822, seven years after Napoleon was dethroned, is enough of a giveaway. But Napoleon had something to do with it, I wouldn't say support, but an influence.

Basically, the Portugese royal family escaped to Brazil in 1807, due to fear of Napoleon's invasion. Because of that, Brazil gained equal rights with Portugal. After Napoleonic wars, the Portugese government wanted to revert Brazil's status back to being a colony, which obviously caused an unrest in Brazil and they declared independence.

It is interesting that King Pedro of Portugal had to flee Portugal when France invaded and then when the people of Brazil rose up against the Portuguese rulers he chose to fight for Brazil and defeated the Portuguese supporting armies in Brazil and was made President. Quite a character.
