Only 3 of them are ones that I was not be able to put a war and relative timeframe to (Austerlitz, Teutonburg Forest and Cannae). One of those would almost undoubtedly be in Germany. One would be in a region that was German/Austrian at some point. So that just leaves Cannae.
Much of Paris still echoes the Napoleonic age - his victories and his marshals are all used as street and other place names. Which makes sense, since he is probably the most famous Frenchman of all time and steered France to its greatest heights. Not to mention being arguably the greatest military commander of all time.
Depends on how you define "great"? Area conquered, population controlled, years undefeated, number of battles, strength of opposition, innovative strategy...

Well still I don't understand why that many people didn't get it. I mean you know it was a war between France and Austria/Prussia/Russia. You know France was on the offensive, trying to beat Prussia and Austria before they could unite their forces with russia. So it must have happened on Prussia/Austria's soil maybe in a small state between the two. In modern day nations terms that leaves you with quite a few candidates...
