Capri is also an island but it is part of Italy.

I think the point was that an island isn't the same thing as a town.

Nice quiz. Only 14/20 I'd never heard of some of these. I'm surprised many people didn't know Yalta...Yalta conference in WWII??

Level 79

Knowing about the conference doesn't mean people know where Yalta's located. It's not called the Yalta, Ukraine/Russia Conference.

I couldn't figure out why Colorado wasn't working for Aspen. When I realized what I did I was hitting myself. Then I did the same thing with BC for Whistler. I should go to bed.

We could go the Burma/Myanmar route and just refuse to accept the change...

Really not the same thing at all.

Or we could accept the fact that Russia took control of it and Crimea is now Russian territory. Which, by the way, happened 4 years ago.

Level 79
Aug 15, 2023
Wow, 4 (now 9) whole years ago! Or we could accept the fact that Russia invaded and annexed Crimea and most of the world considers it Ukrainian territory. The notion that we should simply accept violations of territorial sovereignty is disturbing.

think we all know what the question meant. just remove the word "towns" and leave "resorts"

Based on my visit, I wouldn't call Denpasar a "resort". Pick another location on Bali.

Indeed. "Hell hole" would be more accurate. What about Kuta instead?

Got them all with 1 second remaining. Right on the whistle got Cabo San Lucas which I've never heard of. Got quite a few guessing on the sound of the name.

Bariloche in Argentina should be here, every year it receives thousands of teens from all the country that are celebrating their graduation. It's also the top destination for Brazilians to go skiing, as they don't have any snow in their country.

And I can think of plenty of other places in other countries not mentioned in the quiz. The quiz isn't a definitive list.

Belgians literally just named their resort town "Spa"
+2
Level 79

The noun is actually named after the town, not the other way around, and the name comes from its Roman roots I believe. It has famous mineral baths.
