Lol, I didn't know a yard was three foot. I kept trying to find something meaning dwarf or short and that rhymed with guard.

Ten-cent circus. It took me a bit to understand why the answer was what it was. It was very hard to find another word for "circus" that would rhyme too!

"Hula Ruler" ?

Jan 12, 2016
hahaha Well, that should definitely be an official nickname for Hawaiian kings. But it would only work with some accents. As far as I could tell, all the answers in this quiz were based on pronunciations that would be the same across different Englishes. Being from Kentucky, I would never say that "hula" rhymed with "ruler."

Words must be one syllable only. If two syllables were allowed, I'd be with PrinceEric, though. No way hula and ruler rhyme in my upper south accent. "Hu-luh" and "ru-lur".

The Saudi princess I was seeing several years ago was named Hadeel. She told me that in English this meant "pigeon voice." I told her it would sound nicer if she translated it as "dove's song."

Maybe "affectionate" should be changed to "affection"? Because the equivalent of "affectionATE" would be "lovING" not "love"
