100% dont know how you dont include people like drogba and chicharito and how is clint dempsey not on here best ever season in the EPL by an american!!!
This isn't a quiz about the best soccer players, it's a quiz about where certain soccer players are from. I'll never understand people who want to whine about what the QM does and doesn't include. Make your own quiz.
I would say at least Tim Cahill meets the criteria for this quiz. He's quite famous with his goal during the WC2014, and playing for Millwall, Everton, New York Red Bulls, and now Shanghai Shenhua.
It is by country, there is one German, doesn't need to be the most famous one. French could cry there is no Zidane and Argentinians that there is no Maradona. What Brazilians should say? Zico, Romario, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, Cafu....
If anyone should be pissed off for missing players it should be Poland with players like Lewandowski, Dudek, Tomaszewski, Boniek or Lato 1974 World Cup best scorer. We are also 2 times bronze medal winners and if it wasn't to cheating Germans we should be World Champions. Also Hungary should be on this list with their great team of 1950's and 60's, Bulgaria with 1994 team and Stoichkov, Penev not to mention Russia. So overall Germans have no reason to cry, Gerd Muller is a legendary icon in world of football and I don't see a difference him or Lothar Mattheus and Franz is obvious choice.
I'm not German, but they're a far more successful football nation than Poland, Hungary and Russia...none of them have won the world cup, while Germany have won four (including the last one so they're the current world champions) so Majic makes absolutely no sense
dunkinggandalf How did you Germans do in the 2018 World cup??? You did not even get Klose to a qualifying spot. You got Mullered by Mexico who Hummilsliated you.Face it you Werner no good
Easy, done with 2:05 left. Should try and do a harder one with players not everyone knows and with fairly difficult countries (e.g. Adebayor, Togo or Ryan Nelesen, New Zealand). I guess there is George Weah there and to some that is difficult.
FIFA uses Republic of Ireland. When Ireland split from the UK in 1922 it was Northern Ireland which was allowed to keep the designation of Ireland - not the Irish Free State.
Also Gerd Muller played for West Germany, if you're not going to change the answer you could at least accept West Germany.
In football/soccer, there is no UK team, the four constituent countries that comprise the UK play as individual teams. This is a hangover from the fact that the game started in the UK and individual football associations were formed before the game was played anywhere else in the world.
On one hand it seems a sneaky way to play more teams, but on the other hand if they combined their best players onto one team they would be better, so it's probably good for the other teams who play them that they are divided, but being from the US I don't really care - although I do enjoy watching soccer occasionally. (But thank you, fitheach, for the explanation.)
Got them all with 2:19 remaining. I must say that I'm very surprised that only 35% of people got George Weah, given that he was world player of the year and won the Ballon d'Or, and played for AC Milan for 4 years when they were still one of the worlds best teams.
Unfortunately Weah never got the chance to show his skills on the international stage. Liberia never qualified for the world cup and most football fans (like myself) know about Weah's teams in Europe and about him breaking the nose of Jorge Costa in reaction for Costa's taunts, but Weah was not referred to as George Weah from Liberia.
Oh God, not another one! There is no UK national football team, the four "home" nations (as they're called) have their own individual teams who play internationally.
England and Northern Ireland AREN'T "countries". So, UK should be accepted both for Rooney and Best. I, of course, typed in the end England and Northern Ireland for them, in order to get the points awarded for this quiz, but I see so much strictness in all the other quizzes regarding what is and what isn't a country that I just don't understand why this one, whose description clearly reads COUNTRY, accepts England and N.Ireland in this case.
"Country" does not necessarily equal "sovereign state" (according to Wikipedia, "England is a country that is part of the United Kingdom"). This quiz doesn't ask for sovereign states, but for national teams, as stated in the description.
FIFA, the governing body of world football, currently has 211 national members, including 23 non-sovereign countries. These include Bermuda, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Macao, Guam, Puerto Rico, Tahiti, Palestine, Cayman Islands, USVI. Just 7 fully independent states are NOT members, including Kiribati, FS Micronesia, Vatican City and Monaco.
I went through this so quick. All the other quizzes I do on the site is information I've learned as an adult and I'm so slow, but this stuff is seared into my brain. Good.
don’t understand the need soccer quiz makers in this site to mix in rather obscure teams, stadiums and, in this case, players in their quizzes. Doctor Khumalo? Cmon. Really???
100% agreed. I knew all of them, excluding Mia Hamm which I guessed to be American (rightfully so) and still don't think its appropriate to add a female football player here with all the male players but Doctor Khumalo had me furious. After a bit of googling I realized the only reason he was on this list is because he played in the United States for Columbus Crew. With this logic you could insert any Rwanda or Mali player that played one season in any European Top-5 league and have people guess his country. It's impractical and not appropriate for this quiz.
Biggest curve ball with Mia Hamm, who is a female player. Yeah just throw in a female player with male players. Clint Dempsey, Tim Howard, Landon Donovan or Alexis Lalas would be better.
Considering how much more successful the women's team is versus the men's team, I think Mia Hamm is the perfect player to have represent the United States on this quiz
In football, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and even Gibraltar with Faroe Islands, are considered to be countries and are eligible to participate in Euro's or World Cup competitions.
If anyone should be pissed off for missing players it should be Poland with players like Lewandowski, Dudek, Tomaszewski, Boniek or Lato 1974 World Cup best scorer. I have made some footbal quizzes, so feel free to try :-)
Also Gerd Muller played for West Germany, if you're not going to change the answer you could at least accept West Germany.
Spanish should be accepted then

Dont watch soccer at all
Its ok, but, it would be nice to have that as an option.
Putting this names into such a list is just ridiculous.
You should take Landon Donovan or Clint Dempsey for the US
and put in Senegal with Sadio Mané or El Hadji Diouf for this Doctor who.
