Yep, looks like should be Nevada/Alabama instead of Arkansas/Alaska. Looks like 2018 numbers are listed in Wikipedia now too.

And now Alaska ranks #27 for murder rate. It looks like they dodged the murder wave which has happened in most other states.

Lowest all-time high temperature is Hawaii? I thought Hawaii had one of the highest all-time high temperatures

Well that's a surprise - according to WP Hawaii's highest recorded temperature is only 98F

Edit: and it also has the highest all-time low temperature (only including states)

I am completely flabbergasted. It makes me realize how much I hate humidity.

Polynesian islands tend to have very stable temperatures that don't vary one way or the other far from the mean. I wouldn't be surprised if it also has the highest all-time low temperature.

No, boy, Hawaii has a tropical climate, so its annual temperature range is considerably lower compared to the other states with more temperature climates.

Great quiz but could do with another 30 seconds or so I would say, felt very rushed and had to skip a few to make sure I got to the end.

Could be why the average score is so low. I had to skip some because there wasn't time to think, type, and hope I got the correct answer.

It just goes to show how much continental climates can vary!

The tropics are indeed warm all year round, but it's a stable heat. Doesn't get too hot, but certainly doesn't get too cold either. Plus the ocean regulates temperature, since they're islands in the middle of the pacific. Outside of the tropics, it's generally cooler on average but there's a lot more variance.

Why do ND and WY (and AK) have such high carbon dioxide emissions compared to their populations?

Also shame on the Golden State for not living up to its name, c'mon Cali.

This was such a neat concept to test your general knowledge of the country. For someone who thinks above average, I only missed 4, and can name them.

I thought Utah had highest percentage of population in its city, I guessed a ton of barren states, never would have guessed New York.

Least populous city I cracked a ton, but missed. I misunderstood the lowest all-time high, thought meant a state with a colder recorded temp, so tried all the northern states. I also have no clue what it means C02, thought meant more polluted. In hindsight if spent more time thinking I'd realize and only missed the New York question.
