Discovery Channel is basically dead nowadays. They just play reality TV because it's cheaper to produce than making quality content

You should allow Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing as an alternative to 3M.

Why? Are those their stock abbreviations as well?

"The 3M Company, formerly known as the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company . . ."

I mean, sure, if you really want to type in 31 characters instead of 2. Make sure you type in "American Telephone and Telegraph Company" for AT&T and "Blue Ribbon Sports" for Nike as well.

I was going to put that because I was too lazy to count M's.

Tricky quiz and then you see the answers and suddenly you wonder how the heck you didn't get that one. Hard to think of all the companies in the time though.

Accept Amex for American Express? Even though it's an abbreviation, you'd still have to know what you were doing to guess it.

Amex is already an abbreviation for the American Stock Exchange.

Can you accept Federal Express for Fedex too ?

Ditto. I didn't try FedEx since the company name is Federal Express.

It hasn't been Federal Express in this millennium. The US Post Office pushed them to change their name because they were blatantly trying to make a connection to the Federal government in consumers' minds.

They first changed it to FDX, but that didn't last very long.

I still call it Federal Express, but then again I call Wienerschnitzel "der Wienerschnitzel" from last time I went there, but guess it changed in 1977

MMM. The rare (only?) case of a company name being shorter than its abbreviation!

I feel pretty stupid about XOM. I knew it looked familiar but couldn't remember it. I was invested in it a couple of years ago.

I was staring at "T" telling myself, "whatever company that is, it is SUPER old."

Would it have killed them to make the abbreviation ATT or does that actually go way back to Bell and T is just for telephone company?

Bell used "T" on the Boston Stock Exchange back in the 1800s, and AT&T was given "ATT" when they were first listed on the NYSE in 1901, but they requested "T" and later got it in 1930. Presumably, they used Bell trading under "T" as their rationale, even though that was on a different exchange. And yes, T just stands for Telephone.
