"Padre Island" should count, as should "Crawford, TX" for GWB's hometown--since he lives there.

This debate comes up alot on here. Some think that "hometown" is where you are born. While others think that "hometown" is where ever you live. I think where you were born, or where you spent most of your childhood growing up should be considered your hometown.

I've always considered your hometown where you graduated from high school. Crawford is just a place he chose to call home later in life.

It is still technically considered one island, but there is a manmade shipping channel through part of the island so many people now refer to "North Padre Island" and "South Padre Island". As far as I understand, however, it's still technically one island. South Padre Island is the name of a city, not an island.

George Bush doesn't have a Texas hometown. He's not from Texas. I'm really confused.

George W. Bush was born in Connecticut, but lived most of his life in Texas, and was Governor of Texas. While in the White House, he vacationed at his ranch in Crawford. He now lives in Dallas. To say Bush is "not from Texas" is like saying Abraham Lincoln was not from Illinois (he was born in Kentucky).

It wasn't exactly that it ended on June 19th, but that was the day the news arrived in Texas. It's kind of a big deal here.

LOL. A quiz about Texas was too "American centric". If it were a quiz about Zambia, would it be too "African-centric"? If it were a quiz about Rome, would it be too "Italo-centric"?
