Non-American here and I got 18/20 first time, one because you had to add america to an answer to get it and the designated hitter one.

American here and I only scored 16/20. Missed the actress and TV show, never heard of Green Day or their song, and even though I should have known the Cold War answer, I didn't. I first thought of Radio Free Europe because of all the TV ads for them, but it didn't have America in the name. I don't remember ever hearing about VOA during the Cold War.

I got the designated hitter one, even though I still don't even understand the question, by starting to type "ale" (thinking amber waves of grain was a reference to beer) and "al" was accepted! Thank you!

@Cardinalsin, Major League Baseball has two conferences: the American League (AL) and National League (NL). In the NL (until this year, when they changed the rule), pitchers take at-bats, but pitchers do not practice hitting because their value lies in a totally different and unrelated skill, so they're generally terrible at batting, and are close to an automatic out when they do bat. To address this, the AL instituted the designated hitter ("DH") -- a player who does not play the field, but bats in the pitcher's place, so that there is more offensive consistency in the lineup.

Lois: Guns create problems, but they solve them too.

Peter: You said it, Lois. And you know who else has a gun? Stan Smith. Take it away, Stan!

Lois: Peter, that's ... that show's not on after us anymore.

Peter: Oh. What is on? Something as or more successful?

[Everyone in the room awkwardly pauses and says nothing, ending off the episode]

I feel like American Apparel (who always had the same young target audience as America Eagle) has (had?) more name recognition, but primarily for Dov Charney’s obnoxious antics in the news than for the clothes themselves. They did have great ads once upon a time, plus nothing says “American casual fashion” like having your CEO meandering around the workplace nonchalantly with his junk hanging out.

"The parts of the Western Hemisphere that speak a Romance language"

This ignores the parts of the Western Hemisphere that speak a Romance language like most of Spain, all of Portugal, a good bit of France, and parts of West Africa.

The answer is obvious, but "Western Hemisphere" is not a synonym for the Americas that Americans seem to think it is - hundreds of millions of people live on the east side of the Atlantic in the western hemisphere!
