Good, except Captain Cook wasn't technically from Middlesbrough - he was from Marton.

Middlesbrough was founded in 1830, long after Cook was dead. Should be changed to Marton really, but maybe I'm just being picky...

Understood but St Paul is a more significant figure if you judge by his effect on subsequent history (including American!) and is strongly associated with Tarsus, Jerusalem, Rome etc. The "snippets" actually cover quite a deal of his life despite the fact that it was 2000 years ago.

Piggott, a little town of around 4000 people in northeast Arkansas, could also be added to Hemingway's list. Few people know he lived there on his second wife's family property while writing A Farewell to Arms. The home and his barn studio are now on the National Historic Register. Piggott was also the setting for the Kazan movie, A Face in the Crowd, starring Andy Griffith and Patricia Neal, although in the movie they called it "Picket". In my area we know Piggott as the home of "Marryin' Sam the Preacher Man" who used to marry young couples in the 1940s and '50s without looking too closely at their ages or lack of a blood test. It's common to see obituaries in the local paper citing Piggott as the place of marriage for older folks. Piggott, AR was once a happenin' place!

Leif Erikson is the wrong name. He actually was named Leiv Erikson. The F is there because of they said Leif but its written Leiv, according to snurlas soger (saga). I think he was born in Norway then grew up in Iceland then visit Norway, Iceland, Greenland and then either Newfoundland or Labrador. The vikings established bases ON both but is uncertain which they arrived at first.

You have Leifr Eiríksson in Old Norse and in (modern) Icelandic it's Leifur Eiríksson, both with an F. And it is only spelt with an F in English. I wonder how Leif/Leiv/Leifr spelt it...?

Damascus should 100% be on the list for St. Paul. He was on the road to that city when Jesus appeared to him, blinded him and converted him to Christianity, and his sight was restored in Damascus. Arguably the most important event in his life as a Biblical figure.
