Wow, no pedants to point out that Grant's first name was actually Hiram? You didn't hear it from me....

As soon as I saw the question, I was absolutely certain that I knew what I would see in the comments. Was very surprised too. Thanks for taking the initiative and inviting said necessary comments! Haha.

I am a pedant who came here specifically to mention this. I didn't even know it was going to be part of the quiz, I just randomly tell Internet strangers that his name was Hiram and that the S. didn't stand for anything. It's what historians do between semesters.

Good job denouncing pedants, while simultaneously still being able to enjoy all the perks of being one! I'm not criticizing, I think it's actually well done.

Because women like boots.

Never mind the fact they are made from the skin of cruelly murdered animals. They're still boots.

Fun fact! The word "urchin" originally meant "hedgehog," but got applied to other things whose appearance and/or behavior was reminiscent of hedgehogs. This included poor kids in ragged clothing, as well as a type of spiny sea creature, which is why even though its original meaning has long since fallen by the wayside we still have street urchins and sea urchins.

Given that there is only one planet that starts with "U", and one element that starts with "U", it seems logical to drop the "radioactive" part of the element clue, since you don't use "gas/ice giant" for the planet clue.

Grant's first name was Hiram, his middle name was Ulysses. It wasn't until West Point where he adopted Ulysses as his first name but it was never actually his true first name
