I wouldn't say that "quad" is a particularly American thing. Most of the Oxford colleges have a number of quads.

I've worked in Emergency Departments for 30 years in three countries and have never once (fortunately) heard anyone merely shout "clear" before delivering a DC shock. Indeed, if they did, I would counsel them that their instruction was manifestly unclear. Does this piece of idiocy emanate from a US soap opera by any chance?

These shows also have an annoying habit of shocking a flatline, which is - at best - totally pointless.

Simpsons passed it in 2018. It is probably still the longest live-action show, but the question didn't specify.

The longest-running scripted show is, by far, General Hospital still running after 59 years and more than 14k episodes. However, it's a daytime slot. The Simpsons (Dec 1989) is the longest primetime show, followed pretty closely by Law & Order (Sep 1990) which came out about nine months after The Simpsons and both are still running today. Making them ~32 and ~33 years old as of 2022

If you count the years that Guiding Light spent as a radio serial, it was on the air longer than General Hospital, getting its start in 1937. It was on television 57 years before getting cancelled (1952-2009).

60 Minutes has been on since 1968, but I don't think it counts as a "scripted show," even though they do use a script most of the time... even "reality" TV shows usually have a (very bad) script of some sort... but the term scripted show typically refers to fictional dramas and sitcoms.

"CBS TV News" debuted in 1948, if you want to count CBS Evening News as the same show, it's been around longer.
