I knew Illinois right off the bat (I live here...it's a running joke). But the other one I just went down the list alphabetically. Though once I got to the right answer I was like 95% confident that I knew it just before typing it.

I also knew Illinois right away then started to think of states I've heard of in political news, even if only vaguely. I ended up getting it, but it probably would have taken less time to just list off all the states.
