Major Cities Founded by the French:

I feel like Baton Rouge really should be one there.... but that would throw the rule of 3 out of the window :( But I do think that Baton Rouge was founded by the French and is indeed also a major city.

So, LA was not a major city for years and years, despite being second largest by population. Now that LA has two teams, what is it now? Bigger than NYC? Wait - NYC has two teams. But they play in New Jersey!!! What to do??

I am not sure what constitutes a major city, but Baton Rouge does have a smaller population than St. Louis.

Tried "hitting average", "hitting percentage", "hit average", "hit percentage", "hits". Is "batting average" really the only way to describe that statistic?

Runs is simply incorrect. You could lead the league in runs and not in runs batted it. They are totally different stats.

Yes. It's batting average 100%, no question. Not one single fan of baseball would say "hitting average". Even non-fans of baseball in the US know it's "batting average" because it's an extremely well-known term.

It also serves to get people to use more shampoo. I've always found that lather and rinse really well is sufficient for me, just as in order to get my teeth clean I have no need to spread toothpaste all the way across the toothbrush as shown in ads. I also refill my soap bottles half full of water before filling them the rest of the way with soap. I see no reason to use more product than needed for the purpose just because advertisers tell me to do so. However, I've never yet found a way to skimp on deodorant. :)

It's possible to 'train' your hair out of needing shampoo. Your scalp has to produce more oil to keep up with all the stripping the detergent does. You can gradually wean yourself off by going longer and longer in between shampooing, or you can go cold turkey for a month or so (I found a hat useful!).

Your scalp will adjust and stop overproducing oil. I just rinse my hair in the shower once or twice a week and towel dry -- my hair looks and feels like I washed it :)

It took me a full minute to come up with the third burger chain. Jack in the Box has one of the most successful continuing advertising campaigns - the smarmy Jack as chairman has been around since 1994 - but it was not enough to pass Wendy's.

The top 3 are all over the place. Jack in the Box locations are almost all in the south west, with some in St Louis and Charlotte and a handful other places. There are 0 anywhere from Virginia to Maine.

Hate to pick on a fine French city like Detroit, but Chrysler is not really an American company any more. Fiat Chrysler is Italian-American company registered in the Netherlands with an HQ in London. Thus, the Big 3 is really just the Big 2.

There was another very big city in the US founded by us French... Chicago was founded by the French next to an Indian settlement. Its first name was Fort Chécagou, and the man who created the city was Jean Baptiste Pointe du Sable, born in Haiti, which was French by the time. His father was a French sailor, ans his mother was an African former slave.

Yams and sweet potatoes are not closely related, but are superficially similar enough to each other that they're frequently confused. Squash, though, isn't even remotely like either of them.

A number of these are easily Canadian as well- like the shampoo one for example. Or British for that matter. Not uniquely American. Of course Americans think they are the centre of the universe at times.
