There are two "Peanut Capitals of the World" in Virginia. I pass by one on my way to school everyday. The other one is the next county over. So I feel like Virginia produces the most peanuts. Peanuts are growing right in front of my house as I'm typing!!!
As long as it's presidents' place of birth, Virginia wins (8). If it's state of primary affiliation, Virginia comes in third place (5), after New York (7), and Ohio (6).
I pronounce the "s" out of respect for Kansas. If it was intended to be pronounced with a silent "s", it should have been spelled "Arkansaw" or "Arkansa".
Advantageous state laws for corporations registered there (and you don't have to be based in the state to be registered). Delaware and Nevada are the two I've heard most often.
Many of these could be answered using a little common sense, although I had no idea about New Jersey. I wanted to smack myself for missing the most homeless answer. It would make sense as it is also the state with the highest home prices. This was a great quiz.
Yes, I got them all this time, including those two, the Catholics one, and the youngest average age- the latter I was thinking maybe Mormons are having many more babies than the average American. Though my first few guesses were southern border states thinking that there are more young immigrants and their families there.
I had no idea about any of them, so common sense is all I could use. So pretty happy I got 7 right. I have no idea about american states.
but going on that common sense thing i find it weird that the bear one is so low, alaska was the first one I thought of ( and like one of 5 I know where it is haha, florida, california, washington, newyork (though it took me years to realize that is a state too, of washington I ve allways known, i often still doubt if it is true haha. Ow yea and texas) cause well i allways imagine it is somewhat comparable to canada. Other one i did get but was extremely low was lousiana. Katrina has gotten sooo much new coverage (more than any natural disaster in the world, atleast by my impression, which obviously depends how often I had the tv on in the respective periods. But it definately was a lot
ANyway, rambling and typing grammatically awfull sentences, my mind is not working yet, not sure if it is too early or the fever...
I think the Christmas tsunami of 2004 probably beats out Katrina for most news coverage of a natural disaster. Other contenders might include the tsunami that hit Japan and resulting Fukushima disaster, the earthquake in Haiti, the 2010 eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull, and... if pandemics count as natural disasters then COVID-19 easily beats all of those.
Some of these were very surprising - like Hawaii as the state where the most people are homeless. But I guess if you're homeless, Hawaii is a pretty good place to be.
I thought this was quite easy. I feel being a Canadian probably helped more than being American, as we know a lot of the stereotypes of each state and don't over think it.
QM: Are you sure about Massachusetts? I know that seems like a given, but Rhode Island has actually been the most Catholic state, percentage-wise, for as long as I can remember. If our northern neighbor has finally edged us out, it must be a very recent thing!
It’s a disgrace that Washington has the most Starbucks, considering Howard Schultz sold our SuperSonics to Oklahoma. He should have to pay a disloyalty tax for every coffee shop he has in Seattle.
but I can say that we probably have the most data centers out of all the states
