I'd never heard of it or Oasis, so I listened to the song. Sorry, branmuffin, but I found nothing memorable about it or the group. Keep on enjoying it, though. You probably wouldn't like the songs I sing along to.

Nobody is expected to know everything, and it's cool to all have different interests and priorities, but I still don't get why anyone would brag about his ignorance, especially on this site which is absolutely dedicated to mainly useless knowledge (and that's why we love it). Anyway, to each his own.

I actually know this song, but only because some Korean girl I met at a bar in Seoul took me to a noraebang (karaoke joint) and wanted to sing it.... that was the first time I'd ever heard it before. That was in 2007. The radio stations I listen to would never, ever, ever play that song...

and if they did I would stop listening to them.

on the other hand, I have heard Wake Me Up Before you Go-Go... more times than I'd care to. But had no idea or interest who sang it.

This is a subject of much confusion to people from outside the United States. Wyoming is absolutely 100% NOT in the Midwest.

Lived in the Midwest for 30 years. Wyoming is nowhere near flat enough to be part of the Midwest.

Leave it up to the USA to call the north eastern middle part of the country the "midwest".
+1
Level 40
Jan 22, 2019
The concept of the Midwest in the US relates to the middle and west of the US prior to the Louisiana Purchase and westward expansion. I find the antiquated misnomer incredibly annoying since I come from Nebraska which is also usually not considered part of the Midwest despite the fact that my home is ~60 miles due north of the geographic center of the contiguous US. Wyoming is usually described as part of the West or the Mountains and Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, etc are called the Great Plains or Heartland. Of course, such terms are subjective.

Level 75

It's true the Midwest can mean different things, but the Census Bureau divides the US into four regions - Northeast, South, Midwest, and West. Those four are further divided into nine divisions. Wisconsin is in the East North Central Division of the Midwest Region. Nebraska is in the West North Central Division of the Midwest, and Wyoming is in the Mountain Division of the West. (I thought that would make a good quiz so I just posted one asking for the names of all the regions and divisions.) See it here: https://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/97423/us-census-regions-and-divisions

It certainly isn't a county, technically it's a Principality but if Monaco counts as country so should Wales.

Windsor is not really a surname or family name - it's a "house" name, like Tudor or Plantagenet. When Princes William and Harry served in the military, their surname was "Wales"...

One of the hints is factually incorrect. Technically, the UK isn't made of 4 countries, but 3 countries(England, Scotland and Wales) and a province(Northern Ireland). This is because Northern Ireland never has been a country and never will be. The UK's official government lists it as a Province.

The original last name for the British 'royal' family is Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. They are actually Germans.
+1
Level 82
Dec 3, 2021
The original last name for the family of the 45th president of the USA is Drumpf, but if a quiz asked for his family name that's not what would be expected.

And putting 'royal' in speech marks like that is just silly. If you're a republican, fine (so am I, for what it's worth) but the fact is that the UK is a monarchy and we have a royal family. That's just what they are, until such time as we finally decide to abolish the whole shebang.
