Definitely a That's exactly what narcissus did, stare at himself all day in a river; kinda like everyone who takes selfies all day. I modelled from a young age but got out of that industry because all of the other models were narcissists who enjoyed standing there getting photographed. I hated It. I was bored to death. Definitely a brain-dead person's exercise.
I keep forgetting the English name for the Great Royal Wife of Akhenaten whose name I also keep forgetting. I can only seem to remember their names in my native language...
How do you pronounce that L with the teeny line through it? My grandfather is from a town with one of those in the name. He died long before I was born, so I never could ask him.
That's true, but quizzes here can't require Polish characters, as not everybody has that setting on their keyboard/knows how to use it. However, Maria Sklodowska should be accepted as an answer, since she is commonly known as such in her native country and herself would sign with that surname also after her marriage.
Thank you QM for featuring these women. I made that "Influential Women in history. part II" quiz but I understand it was sadly too difficult to be featured.
I don't really get why "Marie" is accepted for Marie-Antoinette. I was trying to type Marie Curie, hadn't even scrolled yet, and "Marie" just went away so I had to scroll to see where it went... So yeah that robbed me of the satisfaction of knowing another answer :(
How do you know Cixi, I took Chinese History and the professor neglected to mention her. That's something I wouldn't forget; I remember all the dynasties.
No. I took an elective in Chinese History and the professor neglected to mention her. Oh and he didn't mention Whu either. Maybe he was a misogynist? I have no idea but I remember every dynasty so it's not my memory.
It's good to see for the most part women who made their own impact and not only those who were just married to a more famous man or the first woman to do such and such. Sometimes that has a significance, but often it's just a footnote honor.
I'm surprised that missing one still allowed me to get 5/5 stars. I missed Cixi, of course, pretty typical for a Westerner. I did think that she was the one I saw portrayed at the beginning of the ca 1987 film "The Last Emperor". Her being "only" a regent, and her being on this quiz, I'm guessing there was never an empress of much efficacy or renown (if ever) throughout all of China's history? Shows how much I know.
I was born in the seventies and I got 15/16. I am surprised that I received 5 points for the score. I honestly never heard of Cixi and I took a history of China course at University. The professor never even mentioned her. How odd.
But seriously, how would you even measure something like that?
If you don't want to use one of those depictions at least use a painting not an image of an actress.
