You know "Turks" means Turkish, Azeri, Uzbek, Uyghurs, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, etc. If it is Turkish you mean, then use Turkish, not Turk, cause it's two different things.

No, Turk can refer to both (most of the time, actually) a Turkish person and (sometimes) a Turkic person.

Indeed, Turk is mostly used for people of Turkish descent. I suppose the confusion comes from the word Turkic, which refers collectively to Azeris, Uzbeks, Kyrgyz, Turks, etc.
