Michigan is wholly in USA (and you could argue Michigan-Huron is actually one lake, it simply narrows to about three miles wide at the point where one starts and the other ends).

Jerry, I corrected the Michigan (USA) mistake. I know that argument about Michigan and Huron, but I am a little old fashioned and believe in the old two lake analysis. ;)

Why does the lake of the woods just work if we write the whole name? Could just "woods" also work?

Surely Lake Nicaragua is larger than a few of these, or are we only counting lakes in Canada and the USA?
