Great quiz! Saw one like it a long time ago on this site that was for all of Afro-Eurasia's coastline, but I forgot where. There should be more quizzes like this.
Love this quiz! But eek; I don't think it has enough time! It's okay for someone who is a total geography savant, but for someone like me, who knows her geography well enough to be able to do the countries-on-a-map quizzes for the Americas, looking at it from this different vantage point requires a bit of working things out around Central America.
How are these quizzes not featured? They're some of the better ones to get the gears working in the head. Sorry, I've never figured out how to nominate quizzes; there's nothing in plain sight near the statistics.
Yes, I only had 'United States' as a type in for one visit. I don't think French Guiana is 'France' no more than the 'Faroe Islands' are Denmark or 'Norfolk Island' is Australia.
While the argument for accepting France as a type-in is valid, it would be foolish for a person to think about French Guiana but not think to type it when France doesn't work. Less than 0.1% of quiz-takers would get it wrong, so it's perfectly fine not accepting France.
Yes I agree I put in French Guiana afterwards but it's a principle that French Guiana is as much a part of France as Hawaii is a part of America. great quiz though
Yeah, I disagree. It'd be like having to type "Alaska" between the Canadas on this quiz. It's a legal Region of France equivalent to the contiguous Regions in Europe.
For the sake of this quiz I have given the countries there own name. I do not consider French Guiana to be 'France'.......... Imagine a quiz 'Name the islands in the Mediterranean" and it became 'France / Italy / Italy ' Italy' Italy' Greece ' Greece ' Greece' Greece ' Turkey ' etc etc.
as others have said, french guiana is a part of france as much as hawaii is of the usa. your mediterranean example doesn't hold up as there you're being asked to name the islands, but in this quiz you're naming the countries you'd visit so france is the answer. what you consider it to be doesn't come into it.
Well, they would be a French citizen. Maybe they wouldn't identify as ethnically French, but they would still French" in terms of nationality.
Also, France working as a type-in for French Guiana is basically a standard on JetPunk. If you disagree with it personally and want to have "French Guiana" as the name that shows up that's fine, but in terms of type-ins, I think accepting "France" would cause less confusion and bring it more in line with the other quizzes on this site.
@Malbaby, you have to accept "France" for French Guiana. It is an overseas region and has exactly the same status as metropolitan France does. Just because you don't consider it France doesn't make it so.
Yes I think France should be an accepted type in (as it is the JetPunk standard) but you could still choose to have the displayed text as French Guiana given your views. French Guiana is as much a part of France as Paris is though. Especially considering that French Guiana isn't a country on Jetpunk but France is.
i had no idea why Mexico wast working. I had typed USA then Canada and USA again, and I thought a had gone around North America, but really I was just in Alaska!!!
Good fun. But I don't think that you have enough USA-Canadas in there. After crossing from Washington to British Columbia, you pretty soon find yourself re-entering the USA towards Point Roberts for a few km.
I agree with you about the Point Roberts appendix, but as our jetpunkers come from all over the world I think that few kms of US would make the quiz a bit finnicky. Goodness knows how US hung on to that little headland.

Southwest of Mexico is the Pacific
