I've never heard of either band, so I'm reading up on them. It sounds like X-Ray Spex was primarily active in the 70's, though they did have a couple brief revivals in the 90's. They don't really strike me as "alternative" though, at least not under the definition that I'm used to. Xmal Deutschland has alternative rock listed among the various genres they're associated with though, so they might fit the bill. I will listen to both when I get the chance and go from there. Thanks for the suggestions!
