Metro areas are ridculously huge, and some of them shouldn't take Vancouver, the biggest city in BC, it takes the whole surrey and burnaby in the metro area, Vancouver was orignally around 650,000. Victioria, orignally 100,000.

Not sure what your point is, that's what a metro area is. A city population and a metro population are two different things.

The point is that the urban sprawl that is considered in these statistics make no sense. For example, Surrey to Vancouver is about 35 kilometers and considered to be in the same catchment while many of the closer municipalities in Ontario (i.e. Kitchener and Guelph, which are about 25 km apart) are not lumped together.

It's really amazing how many Canadians live within 100 miles or so of the US border.

I'm not suprising seeing as its warmer the farther south you are. Its not because us Canadians want to be close to the US, trust me. Look at every country in the world, the people live in the best climates and best topographic areas. I don't see any super-sized Chinese cities in the Himalayas.

Not just weather, it has a lot to do with soil quality - get out of the fertile areas and into the Shield, and it's a lot harder to develop.

I think Mississauga gets eaten up by the metro area of Toronto. I always try it on Canada quizzes because its one of the few Canadian cities I know out side of the capitals and the usual suspects. It never works, so I don't bother anymore.

Great quiz, but I noticed one (seeming) error. You didn't have Ajax even though the population as of 2016 was 119,000. It appears this is incorrect unless you count it as part of the GTA. Just thought I would point that out, but otherwise great quiz! :)
