I've finally updated this quiz with 2024 data, now sorting the articles by # of users, as this is a far better metric.

I added a bunch of new type ins. Please comment if you have any more type-in suggestions. I'm sure there are more that could be added, as some of these languages are very obscure.

How can there be a Wikipedia for Kanuri if there are no articles?

They don't have any articles, but there is a Wikipedia homepage in Kanuri. Same with Herero. Thanks for asking! :)

Especially as Dhivehi is the actually-correct spelling!

I rated five stars! This is basically a non-controversial "all languages" quiz because of the vast amount of wiki languages, a quiz I have always wanted to take. And now, I'm stuck wondering why I've never heard of number 2. This quiz made me realize how stupid I was when I spent ten minutes typing "ASL" and "American Sign Language" before realizing that its spoken....

thanks! interestingly, cebuano only has 182 active users but 99% of the articles are written by bots

I thought something was up. And I guess the same goes for Waray-Waray? But how do these bots write coherent articles?
+7
Level 56
Mar 3, 2022
i looked into it a little more : apparently the creator of lsjbot, a bot used to mass translate wikipedia articles, was swedish which is why it is 3rd on the list. his wife's native language was cebuano, so that is why almost 5.4 million articles were translated on her behalf

Level 59

"The bot primarily focuses on articles about living organisms and geographical entities (such as rivers, dams, and mountains)."
+4
Level 56

Not exclusively, though. According to Vice:

"The particular bot writing the Cebuano edition is called 'Lsjbot' and was created by the Swedish physicist Sverker Johansson. His creation is responsible for over 24 of the edition’s 29.5 million edits and according to research done by Guilherme Morandini, another global administrator, has created 5,331,028 of the edition’s 5,378,570 articles, or 99.12 percent of its article creations."

Although this bot in particular bot didn't create all bot-generated articles, there are more than 1,600 Wikipedia bots that have AI-translated articles (Wilson).

Wilson, Kyle. “The World's Second Largest Wikipedia Is Written Almost Entirely by One Bot.” VICE, Kyle Wilson, 11 Feb. 2020, https://www.vice.com/en/article/4agamm/the-worlds-second-largest-wikipedia-is-written-almost-entirely-by-one-bot

+8

I imagine it's primarily due to bot activity, which is also the reason that Cebuano Wikipedia has over 5 million articles but only 172 users.

Can I get Circassian(/West Circassian) for Adyghe? I cannot ever manage to put the d y g and h in the right order even when I'm trying to type the "proper" name.
