The Lord of the Eagles in the Hobbit is most likely not Gwaihir, as in LOTR Gandalf states that Gwaihir has carried him twice before, while the proper count would be three times if Gwaihir and the Lord of the Eagles were the same individual. The Lord of the Eagles is never given a name in either the books nor the movies.

Oakenshield is not Thorin's last name. It's an epithet he received after the Battle of Azanulbizar in which he used an oak branch as a shield.
