And yes, it’s winter. I’m almost freezing, also as Belo Horizonte is about 850 meters above sea level (3rd highest capital). Snow in Brazil is like a day of sun in England 😝

Everyone celebrate and get happy. That’s why we say: “Brazil is a country of many countries, is a continental country.” We have frosts in Winter, at the south, and in the peaks of southeast. Most of the highest mountains of Brazil are here, as like Pico do Itatiaia, where you have more chance to see frosts or even snow.

Snow is more rare, and is limited to the south of Brazil, in the mountains of the north of Rio Grande do Sul, south and west of Santa Catarina, and sometimes the south of Paraná, stretching to Curitiba (coldest capital at 930 meters above sea). Is crazy but looks funny. I just saw snow while traveling to Bariloche, in Argentina, when I was 1 😑

In Brazil, Summer, is the most rainy season. Hot ➡️ Humidity ➡️ Clouds ➡️ Rain ➡️ Storm. This happen, as we are in a tropical country. Sometimes, can occur cyclones or tornados at South, and the storms are also severe on the Southeast, Midwest, and North, despite as equatorial climate, always rain in the North. The Northeast is more arid climate, so it doesn’t rain there a lot, mainly on the Sertão. Sparse rains in its coastline.

In Winter, as we are now, is a dry season, and is really cold. The effects of polar masses are felt even in Acre (wait, but where is Acre? Wtf is that?), and the cold come from Antartica. Easily, the minimums are less than 15° C, and sometimes can get less than 10°. The snow is always concerned in the south, and can frost in the southeast. Again, North is rainy, and it has more probability of rain in the dry Sertão Nordestino.

The record of hottest temperature (since it started to be recorded) was 37.4° C in 2015, and the coldest (since it started to be recorded), was 3.1° C in 1979. The biggest accumulate of precipitation in 24 hours, was on 2020, of 171.8mm, and also in 2020, at January, high 934.7mm in a month
