Definition of Europe used for this quiz:

Border with Asia: This quiz uses the most common definition of the border, using the Turkish straits, Black Sea, Caucasus Mountains, Caspian Sea, Ural River, and Ural Mountains as the border. Russian arctic islands basically fall within whichever continent they are closest to, with specifically Novaya Zemlya and Franz Josef Land being included in Europe. The same holds true for the Aegean Sea, where the islands are grouped with whichever continent they fall closest to. Also, Cyprus is part of Asia (cue the debate).

Border with Africa: All islands owned by African countries are part of Africa. The only European countries' islands that are part of africa are Madeira, the Canary Islands, and several minor Spanish and Italian islands that are too small to count anyway.

Border with North America: Greenland is part of North America, Iceland and the Azores are part of Europe.

A great quiz with careful definition of what should be included in Europe and what shouldn't. Nominated.

Södertörn is missing. Even though Södertälje canal is manmade, there was a small sound of water before, so it is a natural island anyway. https://web.archive.org/web/20141230042559/http://www.scb.se/sv_/Om-SCB/Nyheter-och-pressmeddelanden/Behallare-for-Nyheter-och-Pressmeddelanden/Om-oar/

I have gotten mixed messages on whether Södertörn is a true island or not - I have decided to leave it off unless I get a more concrete answer.

Okay, I'll add it, but I should make it clear that there is some semantics in making these lists, and we have to be reasonable. The Peloponnese peninsula is detached from the mainland by an artificial canal, but does that make it an island? Also, because of river bifurcations, a large part of Canada and the USA is technically detached from the rest of North America. Does that mean there's another continent? I doubt you would find anyone who would say so.

Very interesting. Thank you!

Could we maybe allow "Shetland mainland" and "Orkney mainland"? I didn't think of typing in just "mainland" on its own.

What about Flevoland? It should be much larger than Hoeksche Waard.

North Jutlandic Island is also known by Norrejyske or Vendsyssel-Thy. Both should be included in my opinion.

Major Update: I finally got around to adding a map to this quiz as well. The map isn't as good as the North America one because of the large number of islands off the edge of the map (29 islands + one more behind the Iceland inset), but it's the best I can do.

Also, changed spelling from MacKlintok Island to McClintock Island to match with Wikipedia.
