Largest Islands by Letter - B

The Samarinda population in 2017 was 843,446. The Balikpapan population in 2019 was 852,046. However, the Samarinda one is slightly outdated, so it is hard to tell what the actual largest one is. I am going by the Borneo article on Wikipedia, which says Samarinda currently

Whoops - That column used to be for the largest settlement on each island. I guess I missed that one when I changed it. Fixed now.

That's kind of a weird one. It's listed in the Wikipedia page for River island, but the island itself doesn't have its own Wikipedia page. It is formed by the White Nile and Bahr el Zeraf rivers. The island definitely exists (you can see it in this image), but the name is questionable. It looks like Bahr al Jabal is the name of the section of the White Nile that goes around the island, and the Wikipedia editors used that as the name for the island itself. If I find a more official name for the island, I will change it.

Speaking of strange islands on this list, I am actually more confused about Bear Island. There doesn't appear to be an island of that massive of a size where Wikipedia claims it is. The Bear Island article claims it is also known as Isla Teniente González, but typing that into Google Maps leads to an island in Chile. The official survey that named the island claimed it was 1 mile west of Stonington Island, but the only islands in that vicinity are much smaller than the 3,500 claimed by Wikipedia (and the source Wikipedia got the number from).
