None of the ways happiness is being measured here actually guarantee happiness. Wealthy people are not necessarily happy, and a higher GDP per capita usually means goods and services are more pricey anyways. Having a longer life also means nothing. One can have a short, happy life, or they may have a long, bitter life. Although generally a good thing, freedom and happiness do not come hand in hand. Also, even though a country may be free, if it is not very stable then it could lose freedom. In short there is really no true way to measure happiness, although I would trust the Happy Planet Index more than the World Happiness Report, which centres too much on Western ideals that may not be shared globally.
