Born in New Orleans

New Orleans is the most populous city in Louisiana and the principal city of the 46th largest metro area in the U.S. The port city was founded by French colonists and was once the capital of French Louisiana. The city is known for Mardi Gras, jazz music, Creole culture and Bourbon Street. In 2005 the city was severely affected by Hurricane Katrina, which caused a population decline of over 50% and killed more than 1,800 people.
