This may be a technicality, but Germany is a continuation of West Germany. In other words, West and East Germany didn't combine to form Germany; West Germany absorbed East Germany
Yeah, I know. But it stopped being called "West Germany" and started being called simply "Germany", so I just decided to count them as two separate states
Actually "West Germany" was the colloquial name, the official name was the "Federal Republic of Germany", which continues to be the name of current-day Germany.
