Nice. I think Tremors would be a fun inclusion.

Yes, Tremors would be good. Also Rambo. Maybe this quiz about series will be a series?!

Don't be talking smack about the star wars prequels when the disney sequels were infinitely worse.
+2
Level 84
Aug 4, 2021
Maybe on average, but worse than Phantom Menace?
+3
Level 73
Aug 4, 2021
At least the acting was better in the prequels. And they had Yoda.
+7
Level 89
Aug 9, 2021
I hope you're joking. Because if there's one thing I'll give the sequels over the prequels, it's that the acting is MUCH better in the former.
+5
Level 82
Aug 9, 2021
yes. much worse. At least episodes 8 and 9 were.
+5
Level 64
Aug 9, 2021
There's the pod race, and the duel with Darth Maul, and iconic lines such as "there's always a bigger fish" or "I'll try spinning, that's a good trick", the only thing I won't defend about it is Jar Jar Binks getting too much screen time.

I can agree to disagree with respect to your relative level of enjoyment for the prequel trilogy versus the sequel trilogy, but calling the sequels "infinitely worse" seems like a massive stretch. I had some fun with Ep. 1 and enjoyed some of the pieces of Ep. 3, but Ep. 7 was a total crowd pleaser and Ep. 8 had some great directorial flourishes and iconic imagery. Ep. 2 and Ep. 9 were both trash, but for very different reasons. Overall, I liked the sequel trilogy better than the prequels by a significant margin, even if both pale in comparison to the original trilogy.
+6
Level 67
Aug 9, 2021
"Crowd pleaser" seems like a euphemism for "total and shameless retread of A New Hope." The other movies have their failings, but at least they tried. I found Episode 7 positively insulting.

Level 82
Aug 4, 2021
Whether you agree or not, your personal opinions about the quality of the movies shouldn't be the clue.

Also, the sequel trilogy was FAR worse than the prequels.

+3
Level 40
Aug 9, 2021
There's no universal opinion that everyone agrees upon, the clues should be always neutral (unless you form it like "Some say the prequels blaa blaa").
+2
Level 78

Yea prequels are gas
+3
Level 67
Aug 10, 2021
Both are obviously bad but for very different reasons. Sequels had great special effects and visuals (being newer of course), definitely better acting, while the prequels had more originality and a far more interesting story in general. At this point the prequels have become somewhat likable ironically because of the memes and they're just fun to watch and make fun of. Additionally, Clone Wars adds a lot of depth to that era and saves it from being a complete failure.

Level 39
Aug 12, 2021
thank you. the sequels ruined the saga. at least the prequels feel like real star wars movies.

and not marvel movies with star wars characters. oh wait nvm all the star wars characters were killed off because Disney didn't like them. oh well

Emmanuelle? Well okay. Why not then Critters, Ghoulies, Flirtin' and Squirtin', Eager Beavers, Ernest Goes To..., Porky's, Step Up, Alvin & the Chipmunks, Madea, Scary Movie, and Police Academy... if we're gonna hit the bottom of the barrel might as well scrape it clean.

For once I actually remembered that the hockey mask horror movie is "Friday [the] 13th" and I missed the "the". Great!

I'm not sure the number of films for the "Ellen Ripley" series is accurate. I can understand leaving out the vs. Predator spinoffs, but not Prometheus and Covenant.
+2
Level 89

Well technically the number is correct if you count the number of movies with Ripley in them.

Level 82
Aug 9, 2021
There was nothing about Indy IV that made it stand out apart from the original trilogy or seem any worse/cheesier/far fetched/whatever than Temple of Doom, except fanboy nostalgia.

The Star Wars sequels on the other hand, yes, are objectively awful.

+2
Level 60

Agree. But I took the clue to just mean the fourth was made a lot more recently than the first three.
+4
Level 72
Aug 9, 2021
I'm curious to know what makes the sequels "objectively" awful. I mean, I get why some (or even a lot of) people dislike them. Subjectively. But critiquing a movie is inherently not objective, right? What indisputable facts make the trilogy awful?
+2
Level 82
Aug 13, 2021
On the completely scientific Hegelian Scale of Awfulness, Star Wars episodes VII, VIII, and IX score 6.85, 9.76, and 9.93, making them objectively some of the most awful movies in history. For the sake of comparison the prequel trilogy only averaged a score of 7.04 on the same scale, and Leonard part 6, appropriately, scored a flat 6 points. Of the original trilogy only Return of the Jedi managed to score higher than 1 point on this scale, and all were under 2, being objectively not awful.
+1
Level 82
Aug 13, 2021
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is the only film in history to score a perfect 10 on this, achieving peak awfulness.

I'd get into the methodology but it's all very wonky and you probably wouldn't understand.

Level 72

Godfather 3 excellent? I remember coming out of the theater thinking that I had just watched the outtakes from some other movie that never got finished. I mean--killing the Pope with a cup of poisoned tea? Helicopters? Sofia Coppola trying to act? WTF?

I can understand the pain of Star Wars fans who took the prequels and sequels as a personal insult. While we didn't have Jar Jar Binks, Andy Garcia was nearly as bad.

How is 'Its-bitsy' a clue about Spiderman?

Do you mean 'Incy-wincy?'

+2

In the USA (and Canada?) it's the itsy-bitsy spider. I've learned from previous Jetpunk comments that your version is common in some other English-speaking countries.

As was said earlier, in North America it is the 'Itsy Bitsy Spider.' I honestly didn't know there was a distinction in the nursery rhyme between the USA and the UK.

Changes pending. I did not realize my negative comments on the prequels would be so controversial. I am not endorsing the sequel trilogy, but for those nostalgic about the prequels I suggest you watch the Red Letter Media 'Mr. Plinkett' reviews of the prequels. They are horrible films.
