Genghis Khan? Communism has been a miserable failure, I'm not sure Marx is going to be remembered in four hundred years. Mao might be, however, just for his impact on the largest country in the world.

Hey, I completely agree about communism failing. However Marxist thought has influenced the vast majority of all modern left wing political movements. This is not to speak of all of the right wing political movements that have risen in response to them. Mao probably should be on this list that being said. It is easy in the west however to ignore the effect of eastern figures. For example this list should probably have included someone like Confucius.

Christopher Columbus was a very influential figure. That being said someone probably would have discovered the new world had he not.
