Provinces, states and counties

How many of these abbreviations do you recognise? They are all for provinces of Canada or South Africa, states of Australia or the USA, or counties of England.
They start easier and then get more obscure.
These are the standard abbreviations as used by the respective countries' post offices, or in the case of South Africa as they appear on car number plates
English county abbreviations are given in capital letters, otherwise they would be much too easy to spot.

Nice idea, I got mixed up and tried Northern Territories..d'oh

Oh and the MX answer no longer exists officially it was abolished in 2003 and the abbreviation was normally Middx. It is however still used occasionally in postal addresses even though the county is no more

Indeed - I think these abbreviations in the UK are only ever used for postal addresses.

I daresay it is, but NT seems to be an acceptable alternative to NWT. The provincial website is at www.gov.nt.ca , after all.
