The time zones were based on the majority time zone parts of the state. For example, Kentucky, most of it is on Eastern, but some of it is on Central, though since most of it was on Eastern. I counted it as eastern.
If you just generalize the states into one time zone even if they encompass multiple, then the data is inaccurate and it doesn't really make sense. For example, El Paso should be counted as being in Mountain Time, since it uses Mountain Time.
Search it up on Wikipedia. Yes. Technically the Aleutian Islands are part of the Hawaiian Time zone, but none of its cities would make it on the list anyways.
