1608 Karl I., from the austrian house of Liechtenstein, became a Prince (Fürst), because of his service for the Emperor. But he wasn't an imperial Prince (Reichsfürst), because he didn't own a Territory with imperial Immediacy. 1699/1712 Hans Adam I. bought the Dominion of Schellenberg and the County of Vaduz, which had imperial Immediacy. 1719 they were united into the Imperial Principality of Liechtenstein.
